Power Drive ? How to use a Power Drill
Many people realize they can use a power drill to drill holes but there are other uses for the drills when they are a multipurpose type drill. Some of the other uses for a drill are installing screws sanding polishing and stripping paint. To get the most out of your drill here are few issues to consider about the type of drill you purchase.
Make sure the cord of the drill is long enough to reach the place you are going to be drilling. Sure you can use an extension cord but they can have issues of the drill coming unplugged or causing accidents in the working areas.
When removing the bit from the chuck always use the chuck key. This prevents unneeded wear and tear on the drill chuck. To use the chuck key properly insert the key with the nubbed end into the hole in the chuck. Twist the key counterclockwise. The chuck will become engaged with the teeth of the drill to loosen the bit.
Use the chuck key to tighten the bit in the drill. This time turn the key clockwise and secure the bit snugly into the drill. Similar to removing a bit the installation of the bit with the key helps to reduce the wear on the drill.
Once you have the drill bit inserted properly plug the drill into the power source.
Press the power trigger on the drill prior to making contact to the object you want to drill. Slowly and gradually apply the tip of the bit into the object with slow but light pressure.
While you are drilling the object continue to apply the pressure o the drill. Do not change the amount of pressure until the object is in the hole completely. Once the object is in the hole keeping the trigger activated remove the bit from the object. Once the drill bit is completely removed from the object remove the finger and pressure from the trigger.
