Power Battery Drills

Power Battery Drills

Many people using drills for home use tend to prefer the battery operated drill due to being able to use it in different locations without having to lug around the cords of the standard drills. They are convenient and portable but there are two negatives regarding the cordless drills such as less power than the corded drill and their need for a charged battery.

The battery drill has less power creating less torque and rotation speed of the bit. Even with these facts most homeowners prefer the cordless drills and accept the loss of power since most of their projects do not need the high power of the corded drills. If by chance the power is needed the homeowners will have the standard drill on hand to provide the needed power for that specific job or project.

The battery operated drills are heavier than the standard drills. They have the batteries located on the bottom of the drill making it unbalanced and cumbersome for most people that lack the body strength to hold the drills level or for a long time.

The cordless drills are often more expensive. Many of the cordless drills are sold with two batteries to reduce the downtime required to charge the batteries so it is always a good idea to keep one battery charged and waiting. It is important to realize the life of the batteries are only for about two years leading to replacing the expensive batteries every two years whether they have been used or not.

Even with all of these aspects the cordless drills are a great buy for anyone not doing tough or long lasting projects as long as they do not mind the cumbersome and heavy drill or having to purchase the new batteries several years after the initial purchase.
