Drill Bits
Drill bits are a very special part of every type of drilling tools or equipment. The bits can cut into metal wood and plastic depending on the specific type of bit. There are different types of bits for every type of job.
There are masonry bits steel twisted bits drywall bits. Each is designed for the particular material to make drilling easier. Depending on the type of bit it is constructed out of material for the specific intended job.
Twist metal steel bits are made out of either speed steel or carbon steel. Both are effective materials but the carbon steel is designed more for wood project. The twisted bits are also available in titanium nitride with the standard color of gold. The coatings on this type of bit allow the bit to be harder and self-lubricating for easier drilling. This type of bit is designed for metal drilling only.
It is important to know that special care is to always be used with the size of the bits since the smaller bits tend to be thin and brittle. Always hole the drill square with working with the drill and apply light even pressure on the drill. Do not push hard onto the drill or the bit can break as well as an uneven hole will be created.
To have a more cost efficient bit sharpen the blades or drilling areas regularly. Use a drill sharpener grindstone or oilstone to sharpen the areas effectively. If you are sharpening a twisted bit the titanium nitride coating is often destroyed. To extend the life of the drill bit make sure to use the appropriate angle when drilling.
